Director General urges fishing community to adopt legal and sustainable practices.
The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources has approved several regulations proposed under the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act and the Fishermen’s Pension and Social Security Benefit Scheme Act, which are scheduled to be presented to Parliament for approval on 6th January 2026.
The safety of fisherfolk who risk their lives to contribute to national income and ensure the nutritional needs of the people must be guaranteed, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekaran said in Parliament today (06 January 2026).
