Under the program pursued by Minister of Fisheries, Mr. Douglas Devananda, with the aim of directing the aquatic industry in inland reservoirs across the country to rapid growth and with the purpose of providing freshwater fish products suitable for consumption by consumers, Minister Douglas Devananda made an inspection tour in the Eastern Province on 09.04.2023 to find out the shortcomings in the aquatic breeding centers in the Province.
Minister of Fisheries, Mr. Douglas Devananda says that giving compensation for the fourth round to the fishermen who were unable to go fishing due to the Express Pearl ship disaster has already been planned from next 10.04.2023.
A huge amount of foreign currency is earned from fish exports and it is the duty and responsibility of all exporters to have that money duly channelled to the country at a time when the country is facing a huge crisis, Minister of Fisheries, Mr. Douglas Devananda said at a discussion with the fish exporters at the Ministry of Fisheries on 20.03.2023.
