Hon. Ramalingam Chandrasekhar, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, paid a special visit to Ruvini Farm, one of Sri Lanka’s leading aquatic plant tissue culture and export centres.
During the visit, the Minister inspected the production units, cultivation ponds, drying and processing facilities, and export preparation sections. He also engaged in discussions with industry experts, entrepreneurs, and farmers regarding key challenges faced by the sector, including increasing production costs, certification constraints, market competition, and limited technical support.
The Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening and ensuring the sustainable growth of the aquatic plant industry.
The Secretary to the Ministry, Dr. B. K. Kolitha Kamal Jinadasa, together with the farm’s management and technical staff, also joined the visit.
