State Minister of Fisheries Mr. Piyal Nishantha De Silva said that Ceylon Fisheries Corporation having been updated to suit the current market has made it possible for consumers to have Fishery Corporation's fish products delivered to home through UBER and PICKME.
The State Minister of Fisheries stated this participating in the re-opening of the renovated H18 Fishery Corporation outlet located at the Economic Center premises on Kirimandala Mawatha in Narahenpi on August 23, 2023. Accordingly, in the first phase, this facility will be provided to the people of Colombo and its suburbs.
"Fisheries Corporation outlet, which was not in an orderly manner and run in a small space, has been thus refurbished in a manner comfortable for the customers. Here, it is now possible to pay by cash as well as QR system. Through services like UBER and PICKME, customers have the facility to buy fish products and have them delivered to home. This is a good testimony that not only the buildings but also the fisheries corporation itself is being modernized with new ideas."
State Minister of Fisheries Mr. Piyal Nishantha De Silva said that he is trying to move forward with a vision although the Ministry of Fisheries and the Fisheries Corporation are facing various challenges.
"Every government institution in Sri Lanka must be modernized. We must start working in a way that suits the new world. We cannot move forward as a country with obsolete ideas. This country can be revamped only if everyone works with an integrated approach."
The State Minister further said that it is his intention to provide quality nutritious fish at affordable prices and to provide a fair value for the fish harvest of the fishing community regardless of the challenges.
The Chairman of the Fisheries Corporation, Mr. DV Upul , Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries, Ms. Anusha Gokula and other government officials were present on this occasion.
