Christmas is a great day that unites the hearts of humanity with the universal message of love, peace, kindness and faith, said Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekhar in his Christmas greetings message.
The Minister stated that the birth of Jesus Christ has beautifully illustrated the noble qualities of love, sacrifice, forgiveness and unity for the human society. He further said that that divine birth is an eternal light that guides people to live in love with each other and to work together peacefully while respecting differences.
The Minister, who extended his heartfelt Christmas greetings to the Sri Lankan people, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters, on the occasion of this special occasion, stated that Christmas should bring peace, happiness and hope to every family.
The Minister also pointed out that the humanitarian values proclaimed by Christmas are essential amidst the current social and economic challenges. He also emphasized that sustainable national progress can only be achieved by strengthening mutual understanding, brotherhood and social responsibility.
Stating that the main message conveyed by Christmas is that all Sri Lankans work together as one nation regardless of race, religion or language, the Minister added that this unity is the foundation of peace, development and future prosperity in the country.
The Minister extended his best wishes, expressing hope that the Christmas festival would unite all people with renewed hope and enthusiasm, and foster humanity and kindness in society and invited everyone to face the new year with the values of harmony, peace and mutual respect.
